Service Description:

This is one of four approved Metropolitan Spatial Development Framework (MSDF) procedural guidance maps for 2018, each of which must be consulted when evaluating the suitability of an application for development. The MSDF maps provide a high-level view of where land uses and investment are encouraged, prohibited or restricted through legislation. On this map, the agricultural areas of significance and aquifer resource protection zones are reflected, highlighting where there are constraints to protect our food security and water supply. These 2022 draft maps are currently out for internal and external comment. Both the approved 2018 Cape Town MSDF document and the draft 2022 MSDF document are available at https://www.capetown.gov.za/work%20and%20business/planning-portal/regulations-and-legislations/cape-town-spatial-development-framework.
